Gunsmithing Prices

These are our current prices as of 2026. Mail-in work is welcome from anywhere in the country.

Recrowning a muzzle — $100

BEDDING

Glass bedding — $175

Glass bedding with pillars — $325

Glass bedding scope rings — $100

Glass bedding scope bases — $50

ACTION AND BOLT WORK

Lapping bolt lugs — $100

Epoxy sleeving a bolt — $100

Rifle accuracy evaluation — $100

FINISHING AND MARKING

Cerakote, barreled action, single color — $200

Laser engraving — $90/hour, $25 minimum

ASSEMBLY

Final assembly of components with a build — $50

Disassembly, when required — $50

Final assembly covers fitting the components to each other after machining — relieving bottom metal, adjusting the magazine box so it feeds, opening the barrel channel for your contour. Parts sold as drop-in often aren't, and this is where a rifle goes from functioning to functioning every time.

COMPLETE BUILDS

Build labor starts at $825, with components quoted separately at cost. Lead time under three months when all components are available. The base covers chambering and crowning the barrel ($450), lapping the bolt lugs ($100), bedding ($175), laser engraving the barrel specs ($50), and final assembly ($50). Those are the same prices listed above — add them up and you get $825.

Threading, Cerakote, and pillars are upgrades, since many premium stocks ship with pillars already installed. The labor to fit and chamber a barrel is the same work regardless of what the action cost, so we price the work and the parts separately rather than hiding a markup between them. If you don't see what you need, ask. We do work that isn't on this list, and we'd rather quote your actual job than have you guess. Call 501-270-0792 or email woodbuiltrifles@gmail.com.
